Lukey turns 6

Image
Yesterday my first born turned 6.  We moved to Spicer when Luke was just 2, which seems like yesterday.  He has grown into such a confident, kind young boy.  We are immensely proud of him.  He has adjusted to Kindergarten better than I could have ever dreamed of, he has made solid friendships, showed kindness to some kids in his class with special needs, tackled swimming lessons this Spring with confidence, become best friends with his sister, Meredith, taken huge strides in sharing and playing with Ben....I could go on.  My love for him is indescribable. We had a party the day before his birthday with 6 of his friends and Paul put together a treasure hunt through our woods.  We gave the boys their own compass and a 'treasure bag' for all the treasures they would collect along the way.  They each had an alias for the day, which was tied to one of the treasures they would find along with the 2nd clue.  Luke was "Orange Snake" and Ben was "Blue Salamander."

Luke turns 6.  Mike and Virginia's baby due!  Spring break.  Swimming lessons.  Golfing and golf carts.  70 degrees.  No more snow.  Bonfires.  Muddiness.  Opening our pool for the very first time after a winter! Here's to SPRING!

Vacationing in the Florida Keys

Paul and I were blessed by our parents who watched our kids from March 6-11th so we could go on an annual trip together, without the kiddos.  We always choose a warm destination, usually Mexico, but this year we wanted to check out the Florida Keys.  Our winter vacation is always restful and full of a lot of laughing, reconnecting, laying in the sun, seeking out new and local restaurants, playing cribbage, and recalling what drew us to fall in love before we had kids in our lives. This year was a little different because Luke is in Kindergarten, but he was a champ, so brave and courageous, dealing with the changes with little to no anxiety.  We were SO proud of him.  Sunday night my parents brought the kids back to our house after being in Richmond for the weekend. Grandpa Ernie dropped him off at school that Monday morning and Luke directed Grandpa to his school (because he'd never been there), showed him how to follow the cars around the loop, then jumped out, went about 15 fee
