Lukey turns 6

Yesterday my first born turned 6.  We moved to Spicer when Luke was just 2, which seems like yesterday.  He has grown into such a confident, kind young boy.  We are immensely proud of him.  He has adjusted to Kindergarten better than I could have ever dreamed of, he has made solid friendships, showed kindness to some kids in his class with special needs, tackled swimming lessons this Spring with confidence, become best friends with his sister, Meredith, taken huge strides in sharing and playing with Ben....I could go on.  My love for him is indescribable.

We had a party the day before his birthday with 6 of his friends and Paul put together a treasure hunt through our woods.  We gave the boys their own compass and a 'treasure bag' for all the treasures they would collect along the way.  They each had an alias for the day, which was tied to one of the treasures they would find along with the 2nd clue.  Luke was "Orange Snake" and Ben was "Blue Salamander."  It was a muddy, fun adventure - we made the kids hike to the furthest points of our property searching for 8 treasures, with the final treasure being a pinata in the garage.  It took about an hour and there were a few wipe outs down the mudslide-like hills toward the pond.  But there were no tears, just lots of smiles and laughs, with some hearty competition for those intent on finding each clue before the rest of the group.  Here are some pictures.

Paul had a wrestling match with all 8 boys once we finished cake and presents.  At one point, I went into the basement and couldn't see Paul, only 8 little bodies crawling all over him.  We had one bloody nose (sweet, little Abram) but other than that the wrestling match, as well as the entire day, was a huge success.  Luke got 6 Lego sets that were almost all assembled by the end of the night.

We also celebrated Luke again on his actual birthday (yesterday).  Here are a few pictures from the day:
