Dear Baby #3 Hannig

Hi Baby,
I am almost 20 weeks pregnant with you (half way to your due date on July 9).  I have been feeling great in the past month or 2.  The first 12 weeks were full of extreme fatigue and some nausea.  I felt you move for the first time just a few days ago (at about 18 weeks and 5 or 6 days)!  At first I wasn't sure if what I was feeling was indeed YOU, but after lying on my back for a while, I realized that what I was feeling was definitely a little squirmy baby moving around.  We wonder what you will be - a boy or a girl.  I don't care.  I would love three boys, but a girl would be sweet and exciting for all of us.  I just got results today from one genetic screening test (it detects Spina Bifida and other neural tube defects) and the test result was negative, meaning the likelihood of you having a neural tube defect is slim to none.  What good news!  Next week we will get the results of the other 3 tests.  We are praying for good results so you can live a healthy life once you come out to meet us.

Your daddy and I went to Cancun a week and a half ago, and I broke a few rules.  I got a massage, I sat in a hot tub (but it was luke warm), and I got a little sunburned on my belly the first day.  Oh and I took a sip of your daddy's margarita.  I suppose I shouldn't be documenting this but I actually think all of these things are just fine.  There are so many rules and restrictions while pregnant.  Here is a picture of me and dad in Cancun - I'm almost 18 weeks pregnant here (you can't really tell based on what I'm wearing though).

Your brothers saw a brand new baby yesterday and they were both enamored by her.  I told them that they would have a baby like that very soon.  I think they will love having you in their lives, especially Luke, since he is almost 4 and is becoming a little helper and more mature each and every day.  Ben will be 2 when you come into our lives.  He is sweet and caring, but I am interested to see if he has issues with jealousy or lack of attention once you arrive.  No worries, you won't remember if he is rude to you.  :)  And by the time you're old enough to remember, he will be madly in love with you.  I will be sure to protect you from your brothers though, since they will most likely want to wrestle you to the ground the minute you arrive home.

I have changed up my workout routine with this pregnancy.  With Luke and Ben I was a big runner.  I think they came out of me bouncing up and down from all the running I did with them in my belly.  With you, I haven't run once.  I am doing the Insanity work out (I'll explain when you're older).  I wonder if you will come out doing burpees or power jumps or mountain climbers.  Hopefully you won't need to be bounced as much as your brothers needed to be bounced.

Well, that's all for now.  Your brothers are fast asleep, and so is your daddy (he always falls asleep in Luke's bed with him).  You will get your own room when you come home (currently Benny's room) and Ben will move in with Luke.  That could be a troublesome transition.  I might be up more during the night with Luke and Ben than I am with you.  Would you mind sleeping through the night for me right away?  And taking a bottle once and a while?  Thanks.

Love you so much already,
Mom
