Meredith turns four and the 4th of July

Meredith turned 4 on July 2nd.  It always turns out to be a festive few days with the 4th of July two days later.  And this summer we also celebrated our Stinger player's birthday on July 6th (Eli).           4th of July                 Eli's birthday

Club Champion

Paul became a member of the Little Crow golf course this summer.  He hasn't been a member since we moved to this area, until this year (little kids = not enough time to golf)!  Last Saturday was the club championship and he only found out about it a few days prior.  He went out to battle on 27 holes.  He shot a 40 on the first 9 holes (four over) and a 37 on the second 9 holes (1 over), to go into the last 9 holes 5 over.  Me, the kids, Hannah, and Dutch ran/biked over to the course and saw Paul when he was 5 over, going into the final 9 holes.  He was tired and didn't think he was in the running, and because Ben was tired and wanted to leave, we ran/biked back home with the thought that we would go back for the end of the tournament if Ben was up for it.  Well, he wasn't.  :)  So the kids were playing in driveway after we ate supper, and I hopped into the hot tub with my book.  I got a text message from my friend Jennifer, who was at the course, and all it said was "P

See you later TV, hello creativity

I unplugged the TV in our main living room recently, determined to take a week off from watching TV.  I sensed that our kids were missing out on summer, fighting me when we got invited out on Green Lake or when a friend asked for a play date or when I mentioned biking to the park, etc.  The first day was rough (Benny went through all the emotions in a matter of minutes, from "How are we going to make it through?" to "I think this week without TV is going to be really fun, Mom."). The creativity started flowing.  Throughout the week I witnessed the kids creating Legos that were out of this world, they started putting on plays for their Grandma, they took out the video camera and created workout videos (Luke was the videographer and Ben and Meredith were the trainers creating a workout video for me to use).  We went out to the guest house to play games, do puzzles, pop popcorn, and watch the Twins or a movie when it was rainy or we needed a family fun event.  When I
