Luke's 3rd Grade conference

Luke, Paul and I just left your conference with Mrs. Johnson.  While her words are fresh in my mind I want to jot them down so we will always remember accurately what her assessment of you is/was.  Here are some of the things we learned about you today - most of which we knew.

1.  You are reading at a 4th or 5th grade level
2.  You are doing math at a 4th grade level.  The decision to move you to the top math group and push you as really made you work hard.  All  of your test scores are 94-95% or better.
3.  You are a silent leader.  Kids come to you with questions, knowing they can trust you and knowing you will know the answer.
4.  You have started to join in and participate more than you did in the first half of the school year, being more vocal.  You still prefer to observe before jumping in or speaking but you are comfortable with your classmates and friends.
5. You are a great athlete.  Mrs. Johnson said she has observed you when subbing in gym and she notes your competitive nature and athletic ability, but also commented on the fact that you do not have an ego.  You are always encouraging others or complimenting them, never bragging.  A parent has told us this same thing (when you encouraged her son after a gym test), and this makes us so proud to hear!
6.  Mrs. Johnson is impressed with your rubick's cube ability and thinks you would be a great engineer.
7.  She said you love to read informative texts, such as books about WWII, etc.
8.  She says you are the type of leader that would get everyone involved.
9.  She said your cursive handwriting is just BEAUTIFUL!  :)  We know you love cursive so that is a huge compliment.
10.  She said you and Eli are good friends and are a lot alike...quiet in class, but probably not so quiet at home (we confirmed)!  She said she can't have you two sit by each other because you talk too much.  :)

That's all I can recall for now, but if I think of anything else I will add it to this post!  We are so proud of you!
