Kitty Pants.....um, I mean shorts

Image
Aunt Hannah got Meredith a pair of leggings for her 3rd birthday last July and they have kitties on them.  They are her favorites.  She rarely takes them off.  About a month ago, she fell on the tar and ripped a big hole in one of the knees.  I immediately set them aside for Grandma Marcy to sew up.  She can work magic. :) This was in early March, and when I told Grandma I would be sending the Kitty pants her way for some mending, Grandma mentioned that because the pants are so thin, a patch might be uncomfortable for Meredith and it might not look good.  That was the last we talked.  Then Paul and I went to Acapulco over our 10 year anniversay.  The kids stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Dold that weekend.  Well, we came home and got back into the swing of life and a few days later I received an email from Grandma Marcy asking if I'd talked to Meredith about the Kitty pants - the ones that she had turned into shorts.  EEK!  Grandma h...

This guy has some THICK hair.  What a lucky dude.  We didn't realize just how long it was until he got it wet.  He is the envy of his daddy. :)

Benny's Birdhouse

Image
Benny made a birdhouse yesterday. He glued in a swatch of his old blankie and a few tissues "for cushion" he said. Luke helped him spell "The birds" on one side of the house.  I asked him what the drawing on the other side was and he informed me it was a picture of a "jimney" (i.e., chimney ☺️). Then he said "I think that's my best jimney I've ever made."  Benny!    The Jimney

2016 recap

Image
Somewhere along the way in 216 I stopped blogging.  Somewhere along the way in 2016 I stopped enjoying blogging.  I've alluded to this before...that journaling my kids' lives has become a weight on my shoulders instead of an outlet of laughter, memories, and reflection.  It's probably because there are three busy, young lives to report on; little people who do funny and crazy things every minute of every day and I cannot capture it all, and so it becomes overwhelming to me. And because since August of this past year (2016), I have been on a roller coaster ride, along with Benny, as we have experienced Kindergarten for him.  I have collected all of my text message and email communication to friends and family, messages that express the day to day emotions I've experienced, hoping that I would have the energy to simply copy and paste them here as a recap of the past 6 months.  But even that seems overwhelming.  I imagine Benny reading this years from now, ...

Lets make some shoots

Spring is in the air and with daylight savings time we have been outside a bit longer each evening. We are shooting a lot of hoops and riding bikes.  Yesterday Meredith told me she wanted to go outside with me and make some shoots.  It took me a bit of time to realize "Shoots" means baskets. :)

Did I give Him a big hug?

I'm lying with Meredith in her rocking chair. I kissed her goodnight and said, "I love you, Meredith.....And Jesus loves you." She responded,  "Mommy, did I give Him a big hug when He made me?"   What a sweet 3 year old girl.  -God saw what he had made and it was good.  -God made her in His image -Meredith is fearfully and wonderfully made It's almost like Meredith, even in her 3 year old mind, recognizes that she is such a miracle that she would want to wrap her arms around Jesus in a big hug when he made her in His image.

D*!% that is COLD!

Paul just told me a funny story.  Yesterday (Sept 24th) Ben decided to jump into our swimming pool, which we hadn't been heating for a few weeks.  We opened up the pool cover and when I felt it, it was COLD.  In typical Benny style, he ripped off his shirt and bombed into the deep end in his shorts and undies.  I wasn't there to witness that part.  When he came up from the water he said... Daaamn, that is COOOOLD!!! Paul:   Benny, what did you say? Ben:   DAMN, that is COLD! Paul:  Ben, that is a bad word! Ben:   Well it doesn't seem like a bad word.... And then he bombed back into the deep end.  Benny always says the funniest things.  :)
