Lukey is five

Luker,
This post is a month late.  You are five!  We celebrated for a week straight! You got two cool J Crew shirts from Heather, light sabers from grandpa and grandma Hannig, a remote control car from grandpa and grandma Dold, army Legos and a T Rex wall sticker from Joe, Batman Legos from Pete, more Legos from friends, a baseball cap from dad with your name on it, and a few other things. What a blessed little boy you are. Yesterday we had a few of your good friends celebrate with us at Zorbaz for lunch. I gave everyone a bag with $5 in it to get quarters and play in the game room. Benny had me try to win him a stuffed animal in that machine where the silver claw-like hand goes down to grab an animal. Those games never seem to give me success, but I WON!  For just $0.50, Benny got the cutest monkey ever!  He was SO EXCITED!  He hasn't let the monkey out of his sight since. He rubs the monkey's back and head in bed at night, to help the monkey fall to sleep. Today he had "monkey" (as the monkey has appropriately been named) sit next to him at the kitchen table during meals and also put undies on him.

A few weeks ago, Luke, you had your 5 year appointment at the doctor.  You were so brave in the days leading up to it, knowing it was the big "shot/immunization" appointment.  I thought it would be dreadful and scary for you, but when I reminded you that we had your appointment that morning and that you would get your shots, you said, "Yeah, yeah.  I know, mom.  I know.  I might cry a little.  It's ok."  At the appointment you had your eyes checked and the nurse told you that your vision was better than an eagle's!  When it was time for your shots, you held tight to me and when the first two shots went in your thighs (one in each leg), you winced and squeezed my arms HARD, but you didn't cry or cry out.  Then they had to quickly give you one more shot.  You braced yourself and squeezed me tight again, but then it was all over and I WAS SO PROUD OF YOU!  You have just matured so much in the past year.  You are a cautious boy and sometimes you struggle with transitions and change and the unknown (that sounds like just about every human being), but man, you have really been brave and outgoing in the past few months.  Here are some pictures with our friends, the Jenzen's, who stopped over on your birthday.  We didn't get any with Benny, Meredith, or your mom and dad.  Oops!

Here are some pictures from your party at Zorbaz:
