Settling into this new routine, Fall, life

Luke has been in school for a little over a month...and it is starting to get easier for his mom.  Not always.  Mondays seem harder, as I have to adjust to the extra quiet.  But sometimes it is a great quiet - no fighting between brothers or crying by Meredith b/c she is being bugged by Luke's boredom, which manifests itself in picking on Ben and Meri.  Luke continues to love school.  Art class, Spanish class with Senora Campbell, Music class with Mrs. Pearson, gym class, recess, lots of fun with letters and numbers and Mrs. Grabow.

And life at home is becoming normal without Luke.  Sweet Ben.  I love spending some quality time with him.  But he just won't snuggle with me!  He's not much of a snuggler these days.  And I secretly think he prefers his daddy.  :)  They have a special bond.  I was in heaven yesterday when he agreed to lay in my arms when I was sitting on the kitchen floor.  A random place, a random time of the day.  But it was the best.

Meredith is 15 months and quite a little character.  She plays Legos as fiercely as her brothers - intensely putting together Lego creations, then bee-lining to me to show me her creation, talking (babbling) the entire time, communicating to me what she is building with her eyes and non-verbals, and her yapping.

Fall is in the air and as we speak, I'm watching Monday night football (the kids are sleeping and Paul at a softball game) and feeling cozy with my little pumpkin lights illuminating my living room.  I'm not ready for the long winter, but we will figure out ways to make the best of it.

Paul's grandma, Marcie Hannig, died on Sept 20th, the same day Paul and I were celebrating my cousin Kyle's wedding in Fergus Falls .  We were able to travel as a family to Valley City, ND, for the wake and funeral the following weekend.  Paul's entire family was there, including his sister, Heather, who came from NYC.  It was a special time for the Hannigs, able to be with the huge Hannig family in Valley City that they spent so much time with during their childhood.

Grandpa Ernie Dold turns 70 this month (15th), and we are looking forward to celebrating with him on Friday (10th).  What a blessing that he has been living (and living WELL) with prostate cancer for 22 years.  He is the finest man I know, and I am so honored and grateful he is MY dad.

I took Luke with me to the SJU Homecoming football game.  I remember going with my dad to the SJU footballs games around the same age.  We had so much fun hanging out together.  We parked way out in a field and hopped on a charter bus to bring us to the field.  We met Grandpa Ernie and Uncle Jon and watched the first half, then I took Luke to the bookstore, Brother Willie's, Sexton Commons, the church, Alcuin Library, and Warner Palaestra.  We had so much fun together and I hope Luke considers going to SJU someday.

Here are a bunch of pictures to illustrate the past month or so....

First, celebrating Kyle and Libby Schroeder!

I went to eat lunch with Luke one day a few weeks ago.  Here he is, taking down some spaghetti.  I got there a little late and had to sit at the table behind him b/c he was already surrounded by his buddies.  :)

Roadtripping to Valley City.  We picked up Dave and Ann in Fargo, where they left their car for Heather at the Fargo airport.  The kids did pretty good on the four hour trip.

Out at O'Neils with family before Heather heads home to NYC.

Fall colors on a Sunday run....It was 81 degrees on Sept 28th!

A few pictures of sweet Meredith.  We are all being superheros for Halloween, so we found her a Spiderman jammie!  She loves to lift weights when Paul and I are downstairs working out.  She imitates everything we do.  It's precious!

Homecoming at SJU.  Here we are on the bus!

And here are the two littler ones, at home with daddy while Luke and I are at the game!

Those are the updates for now.  There is obviously so much I'm missing in the way of personality traits of the kids, funny things they say and do, their current loves and hobbies.  Legos...that pretty much says it all!  But I will try to go into more detail about each child in the near future.  My blogging has dropped off since having a third child.  Busy!
