Update on Luke and school

At the beginning of the year I wrote a post about Luke and mom both struggling with his transition to first grade.  Since that time, Luke has been thriving at school.  We just had his 2nd trimester conference and we could not be more proud of him!  He is doing excellent across the board - reading, writing, math, specials, behavior.  Miss Quade commented "Luke always does the right thing."  It's true.  I have had the pleasure of volunteering in his classroom this year (as well as last year) and I am so proud of how kind Luke is to others, how well behaved and focused he is, and how he is a 'silent' leader among his peers.  He seems to be gaining confidence in meeting new people and being in new situations.  He never fights having to go to school and goes with a smile on his face every day.  What a difference from the first month or two of the school year.  Hopefully each new school year won't take as long to transition to new teachers and classmates.  ;)  The pictures below are from Luke's teacher.  She started a Shutterfly Sharepoint site so she could share news and pictures with us.  (She is the best teacher EVER if I haven't already mentioned that!).  The first picture is from way back in August when we had Luke's first grade open house and met his teacher for the first time.  She snapped that picture and until today I had forgotten it even existed.

The school has a big celebration on the 100th day of school.  Miss Quade used an app to age the kids and hung them in the hallway outside of their room.  I think this is hilarious!  Luke at 100 years old.
