My "Stars of the Week"

Image
Ben was the Star of the Week last week in his classroom.  Luke is the Star of the Week this week.  This involves a few special activities such as being the line leader, bringing in and sharing some of their favorite things, telling some special facts about themselves, and in Luke's case, reading the class book to the class.  For Luke, his mom and dad also had to write a letter to the class that his teacher would read out loud.  Below is the letter that Luke and I composed and agreed on.  At the last minute, Luke decided he didn't want the picture included so we reprinted the letter sans picture.  Bummer.  He was so cute! Dear Luke, We want to tell your class a little bit about you: Luke was born in one of the biggest hospitals in Minneapolis, and lived in the Twin Cities for the first 2 years of his life.  From the time he was 1 ½ years old until he was close to 3 years old, he wore a baseball helmet all the time, even when he slept in his crib or when it was 90 degrees

Paul Bunyan Land

We spent labor day weekend with the Dold's in Brainerd.  It was was the first time my kids had been to Paul Bunyan Land and my first time since I was about years old.  While Paul Bunyan Land was a fun, I think the highlight of the trip was the waterslide at our resort!  Here are some pictures from the memorable weekend!

Backtracking to the start of school

Wow, I'm a bit behind (I feel like I am always saying that...hmm....).  I haven't even written about the start of the school year and now my blog posts are going to be all out of chronological order.  Well, to be brief, the school year is going well.  Benny, who I was most concerned about because of his tough year in Kindergarten, is doing GREAT.  He is able to physically handle the long days and has the BEST teacher ever, which is (in all likelihood), a huge key to his success this year. Meredith started preschool and was my first child ever to not cry or have separation issues.  It was mind-blowing to see her excitedly walk away from us without a look back.  She is a brave little thing.  She is just going 2 mornings, and although she will be 5 next July and could go to Kindergarten, our current plan is to wait one more year to send her. Luke is enjoying third grade and has some really close buddies in his class.  He is flourishing with regard to coming out of his shell

His Christmas Outfit

Image
Benny has a little bit of his Mom's Christmas spirit in him.  He's been coming home from school and saying "I'm going to put on my Christmas outfit!"  He excitedly rips down the hall to his room and comes back out with this sweet outfit on.  :)  He has even gotten his sister and brother into the spirit, and often when Ben puts on his Christmas outfit, Meredith runs into her room to put on hers.  He keeps it always out, on his bedroom floor, for easy access.  I'm so glad he loves Christmas as much as I do!
