Why cuz

Mer has been asking "why" a lot, and then answers her own question.  If I tell her "Meredith, you have to put your diaper on now." She quickly responds, "why? cuz."  Why wait for me to tell her "because I said so."  She saves times by answering the question herself.   Why cuz.

Milestones

Image
All three of my little babes are meeting milestones like crazy this summer.  Let's start with the oldest of the crew - Mr. Luke Ervin: Milestones of note for LUKE : 1. Biking (previously mentioned in a blog post) 2. Swimming without a lifejacket, in the deep end.  Diving, cannon-balling, sommer-saulting, 360'ing off the diving board, and more.  He is amazing!  Just a month ago he wouldn't jump in the shallow end of the pool and get his face wet.  We are extremely amazed at and proud of him.  The picture below is from the auqatic center in Willmar...since the time of this picture he has completely stopped needing a life jacket but I wanted to add this picture b/c it's so cool. 3.  Teeball'ing as a switch hitter; catching a baseball like never before.  One day he hits right handed, the next left.  What will he be???  We've determined he will just be a switch hitter!  We are so proud of him for playing and improving and enjoying this game on his

THE HANNIGS LEARN TO FISH!

Image
FISHING!  Last weekend we decided it was time to learn to fish.  After a friend of Luke's gave him a little taste of it on Green Lake, we headed to Willmar to buy some fishing rods.  Paul was quite a champion, patiently learning how to get the line ready, tie a knot, put on the hook, etc. etc.  It took THREE hours (and the boys were begging to get going that entire time...enough to drive a person insane!).  Thankfully Paul was humble enough to hop on the golf cart and seek out the wisdom and experience of our neighbor Jeff, who dropped everything he was doing on a Friday night and helped our family for over an hour to get us out on the lake fishing.  Once our rods were ready and Jeff had helped the boys practice casting, we grabbed some turkey (yes, our bait because we couldn't waste another minute looking for worms or driving to a store to buy some), hopped on the golf cart and headed to the lake.  The public access at the bottom of our road was our destination.  It was a busy

Meredith is two! What?!

Image
So much is packed into each week of summer, so I'm behind on blogging, but most notable is that Miss Meredith turned two!  She's quite the Mer-bear.  She got 2 betta fish ('fissies' as she calls them), one named Eddy and one named Gary Monson (after the excavator that gave us 200+ truckloads of dirt last summer).  She got lots of adorable swimsuits and clothes, too.  Here are some pics of this little gal.  She has a style all her own. Below, she is on the way to her 2 year doctor appointment wearing a winter hat, swimsuit top, diaper, and slippers. :)  She hasn't hit 30 pounds yet.  She was 29.1 lbs (78th percentile for weight).  She was 36.4 inches, which is the 99th percentile!  Tall little girl!  She got her last vaccination and didn't even flinch when she got the shot.  Not sure what that was about, since I didn't give her any tylenol beforehand. It was a pleasant surprise.  Maybe it was the comforting she was receiving from big brother, Luke,

Ben turns 4

Image
This is a little overdue, as Ben turned 4 on May 1.  As I say often, I'm not sure where the time goes. It seems like we just moved to the New London Spicer area. But we moved here when Ben was two days old, straight from the Maple Grove Hospital to New London. And now he is four. Paul pulled out our video camera tonight's ago and I could hardly watch it because I got so sad and sentimental. There were videos of Luke at age 2 and Ben at 6 months old, right after we moved into our current home in Spicer.  Luke he kept running by Benjamin in the kitchen and Ben would belly laughing with glee. Luke's little voice was so sweet and Ben's little six-month-old body was so squeezable.  It's precious to have those memories captured but so often it is difficult for me to watch them because I tend to miss those times and moments and realize that I can hardly remember them. At the same, I wonder how four years could have passed because it seems like just yesterday.  Time is so s

Tooth fairy time!

Image
Lukey lost his first tooth on July 5th!  We aren't sure where the tooth is.  Maybe in his stomach?!  The tooth fairy brought him $2 even without a tooth under his pillow.  How generous! (although I hear from others that the going rate from the tooth fairy these days is $5.  Daddy thought that was ridiculous, given that he has another 15 teeth to lose).  :)
