My little helper, Luke

Luke has been such a nice boy in the past few weeks.  He seems to be growing and maturing.  He has stopped bullying his brother and has flipped the switch completely, being so kind to his brother and extremely protective of him.  He has been amazingly helpful to his mom, too.  Here is a list of what Luke did to help me today:

1. He loaded all of the dishes in the dishwasher
2. He saw me folding laundry and asked to help.  He folded all of his own laundry and then put all of it away in his room.
3. He watched his brother for me.  We were outside and I had to quickly run inside.  Luke said, "Mom, I will keep and eye on Benny for you - to make sure nothing happens to him."  As I thanked Luke and walked to the house, I saw him put his arm around Benny and say, "It's okay, Benny, mommy will be right back.  I'm here.  It's okay."  When I came back outside a second later, Luke was running across the yard to get a big blue ball for Benny to play with.  I LOVE THIS.
4. He helped me change Benny's poopy diaper.  He got me a new diaper and laid it out for me.  Then he got a plastic bag and held it open for me to toss the dirty diaper and wipes into.  When I was done, he tied it up (with my help) and ran it outside to the garbage.
5. When Benny fell on the tar and scuffed up his knee, Luke ran to grab his blankie for him (he did this on his own, knowing it would sooth Benny).
6. He picked all the tomatoes and green beans in our garden.
7. He spilled on the table at lunch time and he ran to get a wash cloth to wipe it up, saying, "I billed mom.  I'll clean it up because I billed on the table."  (Billed = Spilled)
8. I was going to do my Insanity workout in the living room and I asked him how the living room was looking.  I told him not to worry about cleaning up, but maybe just help move the toys to the side.  He moved all the golf balls and bouncy balls (the bouncy ball count has now surpassed 70) to the side so I had a nice large space to work out.
9. He packed a small diaper bag for our strollerblade (i.e., rollerblading with the double jogger stroller) to the golf course to see dad.  He packed a few diapers, wipes, pretzels, cheerios, raisins, sippy cups, my phone, and the camera) and carried the bag over his shoulder out to the stroller.  What a help!
10. I was trying to get him to the car as we were leaving Pete's house, but he had to first pick up a food wrapper he found in the grass and throw it in Pete's garbage can.
11.  He filled my 7 day medicine/pill container with my vitamins, etc.  He worked on his counting at the same time.
12.  He helped me carry up a shelf from the basement.  It was his idea to help, stating, "Mom, I'll help you.  I will take this end and you take the other end.  Okay, mom?  Let's go.  Good job, Mom. Good."

Wow, I bet I could even think of more.  What a little helper.  He also helps me hang out the laundry, handing me the clothes pins (although we didn't do any laundry today).  He is also getting so much better with his manners.  He is always saying 'please' and 'thank you' at appropriate times, and he really is thoughtful and considerate, thinking about my feelings or needs/wants, as well as Benny's.  I'm so proud of my little guy!

Here are a few pictures of him in front of the garden that he helps tend to with such dedication and pride:

We are trying to get a picture of our HUGE cantelope.  Luke calls it the 'Big Daddy.'

Okay, here is a better picture of the cantelope. And Luke trying to squat.

And the entire garden.  So thankful for my little helper!  P.s. He likes to wear his shirt like that when he is pretending to be a bird who can fly.  :)
