Oh where to begin...
It's almost been 2 months since my last blog. I am finding that recently the idea of blogging is causing me much dread. I know it is simply because each day is packed with funny stories, new words, new understandings, tear-jerking moments, sweet moments, and much more - and I just simply cannot capture it all. That causes this mom stress. Trying to unpack my world - to articulate my daily emotions and happenings with a 3 and 1 year old - is like climbing mount Everest each and every day. How can I possibly get down in words all that Luke is learning and saying and doing as an almost-four-year-old? He melts my heart daily. He is a mama's boy through and through. He kisses me and caresses me. He often just wants me to stay near him regardless of what he is doing. He doesn't want to go to Sunday school or preschool or anywhere that I am not. He loves guns (especially the one he got from Grandpa and Grandma Dold for Christmas. Picture to follow below). He is shy around new people for a long time, but eventually warms up. He is an amazing helper (laundry, cooking, putting away groceries, etc.). He is independent - often making popcorn or lemonade for himself. He LOVES (and I mean LOVES) to wrestle. He will wrestle anyone - and this is almost the one exception to the rule about him taking a long time to warm up to people he doesn't know very well. If someone he hardly knows starts to wrestle with him he is all in. He loves the snow this year, and surprises us with how tough he can be when it comes to enduring the cold temps and/or snow in his face, mittens or boots.
Then there is Ben, stubborn AND sweet Ben these days. He is 20 months old and each day he becomes more independent. He is picking up words at lightening speeds. When he nods 'yes' his entire upper body stiffly moves back and forth, not just his head. He wants what he wants and when he doesn't get it he will scream for a good duration of time. He likes one sippy cup type over the others (not spill proof though) and so he goes nuts when we don't allow him to have it. He wants to choose where he sits to eat and gets upset if Luke has the spoon or fork he wants. He won't let me read him a book or snuggle before bed - he fights his way down and bolts for the door, pointing to it and saying "GO! GO!" He keeps us laughing and sometimes pulling our hair out. Just like when he was a baby, he can keep the intense screaming and crying going for much longer than we'd ever imagine possible. He has top and bottom molars (that was a hard time). He loves his gun from Grandma and Grandpa equally as much as Luke does, and he imitates everything Luke does when he shoots. He loves to snuggle and give kisses. He is just so darn cute. The words he says and how he says them is adorable. He says "bankie" for blanket, "pickow" for pickle (which he eats constantly, often for breakfast), "Uke" for Luke and much more cuteness. Here are a few pictures with the Christmas guns. I will try to blog more about Christmas and some other big things going on in the Hannig family today or tomorrow!
